Beep Beep, I sent you an email. But would like to report I had my very first ride back today, I feel a bit battered as so not rider fit & we went for a hill ride. Ankles were feeling it, but now just back muscles probably partly c-sect to blame but also cause I'm so unfit. Horse was good after her long break, but needs more outings as was a little overwhealmed at one point on the trek but I was with a trusty partner & we did a horse swap so I ended up riding most of it on the less bouncy fully dependable one ....

Museum is good too (if you're into museums) - free as well, and they have done heaps of renovations in the past few years. Victoria St Markets were rubbish last time I went to have a look a few years back, nothing like it was, er, many years ago when I was a teenager...

Well what a long week, I'm sure all CHCH people are feeling the same. Exhausted/heavy eyes, mentally drained. Can't say I enjoyed working on second level of building in Sydenham, with ground floor being tile showroom & being upstairs when the 5.1 hit on Wednesday at 7.48am. But hey, I should toughen up, there are others who are far worse off, thinking of you all :)

I'm really interested to know where the 'official' place to 'measure bone' is : I remember reading years ago, 'just under the knee', but it makes more sense to me to measure pretty much the middle of the cannon bone - ie the smallest circumference. For your horses with 10" or so, where are you measuring? My quite light-weight looking boy has (smallest circumference) of just over 8.5 inches, and the huge clydie cross (17.2hh) and really solid, has 9.5". The 3/4 ID boy has 9.25.

The definition of my pure hell is being stuck in a bus with 30 tired toddlers and mums in Takapuna knowing that your farrier is waiting for you at home which is 40kms away and he is doing you a special favor and you have no way of contacting him. What was meant to be a relaxing morning seeing the show The Gruffalos with daycare turned into a nightmare when they announced halfway there they had booked the late show by mistake. Everyone else was "Oh thats cool and I went "your shitting me right?" which didnt go down well with the other mums. As we went to leave the show a dad was missing and turned up 10mins later with a latte and hot chocolate for his kids.I had steam coming out my ears. Lucky for me I got hold of my fab neighbour at the last minute and she held the horse but god I am now exhausted from stressing. Only other horsie people can understand this sort of farrier panic. I dont ever want to feck off my farrier. Rant over.
