If you go to the interactive map (first one next to EQ report) all the circles are people reports, hover over them and you'll see the towns. Last one was pretty much in Rolleston. You can zoom in too, get a real idea exactly where it hit.

If you get out a map & ruler it's actually fairly easy to work out roughly where they are centre - 30km SE Chch puts you fairly squarely in Brookside, where as 20km SE Darfield is up the back of Burnham. Generally the maps are set North - South and in the front pages there will be a scale for distance - on mine 4cm=10km's.

Thanks everyone. I took Connie's advice and plugged in a few lat/long numbers and am really surprised at how inaccurate Geonets basic description of the location is! For example one of the Darfield ones was across the other side of the Waimak from Darfield just by Tram Road!! Why can't they call that Ohoka?

I think that they take reference from the quake drums which show the most action. Hence the weird location details and why the lat/long works so well.

3yr old gelding by Touche (Waimanu Park) out of a stationbred mare. Should mature around 16h/16.1h. Bay with 4 long white socks, white star and a couple of white patches on neck, so very blingy! Nice straight movement, no lumps, bumps or scars. Was led, tied up, feet handled etc as a weanling and yearling, but not much since aside from pats and cuddles in the paddock. Very friendly and nice natured. Ready to break in and become a grown-up! Selling as am not going to have time to do him justice and he deserves to be given the chance to be a star. Dad is purebred but not reg, an accomplished retreiver (still out hunting all season at the age of 10) and a very nice natured boy. "Zensi" is an Arab TB mare, grey, 9 years old. Fantastic temperment, 14.3hh - 150cm. Has done a little of everything, endurance, hunted, pony club and alot of farm work. Very sure footed, good round stock. Keen jumper although green, 3 nice paces and soft mouth - ridden in snaffle. Has excellent feet and is therefore unshod, and also is a very good doer.
Excellent around children, has recently had teeth done and feet trimmed.
This mare has a lot of potential, she is very versatile - will be a competitive pony club horse, competitive endurance horse or else a nice horse for getting out on farm. She is forward going though so not suited to a beginner rider.
Price ($3800) includes near new summer and winter rugs - synthetic and canvas, bridle and boots. Price may be neg, home is not. This mare is a great friend and lots of fun. Very sadly for sale, due to owner being overcomitted with young family.
