Early Sale ring as I don't log in at work - Albion Legend Dressage Saddle 18" - medium wide. Older style saddle, in good condition, has suede seat and knee rolls, wool packed - fitted my two TB's before the one I have now.... Saddle is with Sue Rudler - http://www.SADDLE4YOU.co.nz she has it for sale for approx $1,300 neg. Sue is fab and does saddle fittings too. If interested she can send you pics and arrange a fitting etc. I would love it gone by Equitana! I also have a Korrector Saddle pad system (1 saddle blanket with the Korrector pockets, 4 air bags, pump and instruction manual), this has been fantastic to help horses with muscle wastage - it is four air bags in a specially made saddle blanket and you use either all 4 or the front or back 2 and adjust the air to help fit the saddle properly. I am not sure what they go for - so please e mail me if you are interested - for some info on the Korrector pad - http://www.fteltd.co.uk/Korrector/korrectorwhy.htm. Kimbomorrison@hotmail.com

Great lesson today. Emgee is brilliant (thank you) I am now so focused at the corner before a jump and riding correctly the actual jump just takes care of it's self. I think I need to work more on riding the course than worrying about height. Show hunter is very well suited to us. Ted has a lovely canter and we are working on a nice rounded movement and if I count strides and work at perfect corners the 70, 80, 90cm will flash by but I won't notice as I will be working towards the next jump.

NH-had a lovely dinner paid for my MIL (take it all back) got 2 texts about earth Quakes in Ch CH at dinner, my favourite city and would be their now if my parents were not up this way and after 5 years in the UK I want to live near them. It's so hard on everyone and such distruction so close to home. Could we fund raise on Horse talk? To help our horsey friends? MIL leaves Monday so their is a single room free for the taking if anyone wants to get away from CH Ch for a few days (my 3 lovely children are pretty good and will chat a mile a minute) but you can relax while they are at school-just let me know.

Righto gurus...it has been years since I've bandaged legs for exercise and I can't for the life of me remember whether you leave the hangy down bit going down the leg and tuck over and overlap from the bottom or the other way round, i.e have the long length going up the leg and overlap from the top...hope that makes sense! And does it really matter? I.e. Is just going round and round the leg OK. Googled it, and the vid shows them just going round and round the leg.

I start not quite at the top, go around, fold my flappy bit over, then down to the bottom and up again. Does that make sense LOL
Reply
  Mandy   Kerikeri  10:22PM    09-Sep-10
So the flappy bit hangs down-towards the fetlock? Do you bandage under the fetlock? Specifically this is for a horse with a shin splint. Not lame or sore...just want to give his legs a bit of support.
Reply
  Karen   Downsizing  10:38PM    09-Sep-10
yeah flappy pointing fowards ground. And I only bandage to the fetlock, otherwise that bottom wrap wants to slip down the pastern. And it depends on what you're using too.

If someone has "lost their licence", what does that mean as far as track/training riding go? Anyone? I have no idea........
Reply
  Kirsty   Waipukurau , Hawke's Bay  9:55PM    09-Sep-10
It means they are not authorised/licensed to ride on a track - there are a number of ways to lose a track riding license, not complying with track conditions, modified gear and positive drug tests. If that is what you mean.
Reply
  veronica   cambridge  10:03PM    09-Sep-10
Depends whether disqualified or suspended and what sort of licence they hold. Any licence holder disqualified is not allowed to set foot on a track (training or raceday) or the premises of a licenced trainer, so effectively cannot work in the racing industry for the duration of their disqualification (however could still work in related areas such as stud work or a breaking or pre-training stable provided neither place has a licenced trainer working out of the premises).
Suspended means you cannot carry out whatever your licence is for, for the duration of the suspension but can still work in a stable. I.e. a track rider cannot ride track work but can still do all the other stable activities and ride the horses at home; a suspended jockey cannot ride raceday but can still ride trackwork and trials; a suspended trainer could still keep horses ticking over in their work at home, but not take them to the track/ trials or races.

Wow, complicated huh?? Having contacted someone offering breaking in/training services as advertised, that person is no longer in the vicinity (not been for some time due various issues) but has recommended someone in area for the job as had "lost their licence" hence maybe needing the outside work? Like I said, I have no idea as to the ins and outs....... just curious more than anything :-)

Lots of tears and emotion here tonight - my in-law's house has today officially been condemned (Courtney Downs, Kaiapoi). Final nail in the coffin and all that aye? Looks like the houses won't be re-built either - hopefully a payout will happen instead. Attached garage has separated from the house, which has all moved at least 4ft now, and the only thing holding up the garage is the shelves that my FIL built. The inspector took one look in the manhole and high-tailed it out pretty darn fast. Yesterday it was green-stickered, today it's red-stickered. :(

:( When I see these things I wish I had a huge amount of land and the skills to train youngters. Every horse has so much potential. I would love to one day be good enough to rescue a horse, Mum and Dad could have another 2 horses on their land but no one to look after them as they work all day. If anyone wants grazing near the top of Paekakariki hill road let me know, there is a clay arena and a 15 minute float to battle hill. It would be nice to have another horse to keep 25 yr old Cartoon company :)
